Friday

With the sun shining we all met in Ludlow just before 3pm

Travelling up from Putney were Staib, Useitright, Paulie and Hamwick and they were joined en-route by Trigg who had come over on the 7.30am ferry from the Isle of White

Next to join us were Tweeky and Kitesurfer from South Wales and last but not least Welshxpress from Albrighton in Shropshire
Unfortunately Tweeky could not join us on the ride out as he had a last minute job interview the next day in Manchester, was good to meet you Tweeky, thanks for the drink and hope the interview went well?

After a quick check in to the Travelodge and refueling the bikes we set off for the Friday evening ride out and North onto the Long Myndd...

Courtesy of the National Trust we found these helmet holder's a great idea...

Then it was off over the first of many green lanes we would encounter this weekend...

Low flying glider over the LongMyndd...

After a visit to Bishops Castle we then crossed the ford at Kempton, first in was Phill (Useitright) ...

Followed by Paulie...

A big splash by Trigg...

And Welshxpress...

Saturday

9am start and joined by Ort Dunlo it was up to Whitcliffe and a view over the castle in Ludlow...

A few miles further and we were crossing into Wales...

After a conversation in the bar the previous evening about OKO tyre sealants with Trigg , 2 miles out of Knighton who should be struck by a puncture.....yes Trigg :affraid:

A temporary repair with a Holts tyre weld we managed to limp into Knighton and luckily found a tyre dealers who could repair the puncture...

For not not installing the OKO Trigg was awarded a special award...

While the tyre was repaired the lads parked up and had a late breakfast in Knighton...

Altho Welshxpress was not with us today we did feel he was there watching over us eating breakfast...

With the tyre fixed it was out of Knighton and up onto the right of way above Monaughty with Phill leading the way...

Paulie...

Nick prior to the second Vanvan disaster of the day...

And here is said failure......a lost number plate bolt ...

A quick fix thanks to Phill's magic bag of spares and we were back on the road heading over the moors towards Llanbister...

Next stop after Bwlch-y-Sarnau and the Gilfach nature reserve was ET James in Rhayader to refuel the bikes...

And then a park up in Rhayader high street to pick up lunch from Ty Morgans bakery...

Elan Valley and the fantastic roads around the many reservoirs were next...

Craig Goch reservoir...

Phill...

Nick...

Martyn...

Ian...

Trigg...

Paulie...

Mark...

Reenactment of the 1940's International Six Days Trial Stage with road now surfaced...

Cwmystwyth Lead mines...

Phill being helped by Paulie after testing his tip over switch...

A quick road trip via Devils Bridge and Ponterwyd we headed up the A44 and turned off towards the wind farm at Llywenog...

Little did they know what this sign had in store for them

The following pictures do not show in the slightest how steep this hill is, Ian who has been part of the RAF motorcycle display team and competed regularly in motorcycle enduro's described it as "Hardcore Off Roading!"

Never have i seen such a varied approach to descending this hill from Ystumtuen to the Rheidol valley, many of them in a cloud of dust as they gathered momentum, me and Nick stood halfway down and dived for cover at one point and spent watching the rest of the descents in tears of laughter...

A little helpfull tuition from Martyn and Mark was down safe and sound...

Paulie looking cool half way down...

A well deserved al-fresco lunch stop was next with spectacular scenery...

Back on the road, Nick overlooking the weir down river from the Rheidol power station...

Aberystwyth was the next port of call...

Of course a trip to the coast is not complete without an ice cream...

(excuse the dirty fingernails, that was from fitting Triggs rear wheel earlier)

Phill on the other hand appeared to be nodding off hence the coffee...

Following the coast road via Clarach Bay this is the view down over Borth and the dunes at Ynslas...

And Ynslas is where you can ride/drive on the beach...

Next we headed East up into the hill's towards Nant-y-Moch and another right of way and more gated roads and water crossings...

Dropping down to the river crossing at Afon Diliw towards Llangurig...

No this wasn't Phill aboard a JetSki but a VanVan under all that water...

Then it was a blast back to the Travelodge, quick shower and in the restaurant for food drinks and awards for the weekend

Votes handed in and the following winner's

Furthest travelled was Trigg from the IOW...

Best Vanvan award went to Nick and his Devil enhanced K9...

And spirit of the event went to Paulie having only passed his full bike test last week...

Congratulations to all

Sunday

After such good weather and great company an impromptu 3rd ride out of the weekend was agreed on with another 9am start...

Travelling towards Much Wenlock we cut across Wilderhope Manor...

And then a trip up and down one of the special stages used on the Clee Hill classic trial...

Starting our route south following the River Severn we visited Ironbridge...

...altho Ian's light guard mounting was getting more interest than one of the great symbols of the Industrial Revolution  :lol!:

After the morning chill Phill was finding it a bit warm in his waterproof's, little did he know more water crossings were to come (see Video)

Brunch was taken care of at the Quatt cafe on the A442 between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, a popular bike meet on a sunny day...

A few more green lanes and we were heading into Bewdley and a look around the Severn Valley Railway...

I was also lucky enough at this point to try out some of Givi's new retro range of luggage.....cheers lads!!

And finally we arrived at Worcester where we split to make our way home, most down towards London, Trigg to catch the 5.30 IOW ferry, Ian back to South Wales and myself a short run up to the Midlands
